Supporting local people in need with low cost clothes, Bric-a-Brac & furniture. Providing meaningful occupation for mental health service users.
Welcome to the MASH Charity website. This is a charity set up for people who for one reason or another have found themselves in the position of needing help. The aim of the shop is to support further projects, and to help meet the basic living needs of service users. All supplies are from donations received from various sources. We supply clothing, household goods, bedding and furniture The project is a partnership between service users, health, and the voluntary sectors.
It’s run by over 30 volunteers who are mostly recovering mental health patients. The initial aim of the shop was to provide people in need with second hand clothes, after seeing at Torbays Hospital Haytor unit, the hardship suffered by a woman who was evicted from her flat.
But with the overwhelming demand for used furniture also needed this led to the charity’s expansion. Furniture and clothing is donated by the local community and given to people who have been referred from different agencies. The charity also buys electrical items such as fridges, cookers and much more….
We take a different approach to commercial charity shops, adopting a more ‘Aladdin’s cave’ approach (as described by many of our customers). Our pricing also reflects this with customers telling us we are extremely reasonably priced. Come and see us sometime…you never know what treasures you’ll find.
